Bb Cornet Solo : - “When Summer’s Gone”
Composer Don Robb, arranged by Denzil Stephens
A simple version of this composition has been in the Sarnia Music catalogue for some years, but Denzil kept coming back to the idea of the tune , deciding late 2009 to update the whole arrangement for full brass band. This new version has been played with success by Jane Whitehead with the Lostwithiel Town band for the past six months, and in November 2009 by the Vintage Cory Band with Jim Davies playing the solo in a concert in South Wales.
The melody is set to a Latin American type setting, the solo playable by most competent soloists.

Denzil has just prepared three
testpieces for lower section bands.
WEST SOU’WEST has been used twice, at Torquay, and at the 2009 BUGLE Brass Band Festival.
(1) THE OLD FORGE, for 2nd or 3rd section is ready, but has not yet been played in public.
(2) EDEN SOUTHWEST, suitable for 3rd or 4th section bands is now available, and has yet to receive it’s first public performance.
